The Hue is one of the newest landmarks in downtown Raleigh, located in the vibrant Warehouse District at the corner of West Hargett and Dawson Streets, opposite beautiful Nash Square. It was built as a residential condo building with a younger demographic in mind, but tough economic times forced it to be converted into apartments for rent, and it has since thrived.
Built as a mixed use property, the Hue offers a series of office spaces in the main floor, some of which are vacant today. The commercial spaces feature full glass storefronts, a great opportunity for local merchants who would want a very visible presence in downtown Raleigh. Suite 50 is one of these spaces.
This Inaugural BEST installation is designed by Arthouse. ARTHOUSE is an art studio for children, just three blocks west from this art installation on Hargett. Classes focus on teaching artistic creativity through the combination of sensory stimulation (sound through music, sense of touch, smell, taste and sight). The studio emphasizes creativity through various mediums ranging from watercolor, acrylic paints, oil pastels, color pencil and recycled found objects. Lessons are taught in private small classes by the Director, Kalesia Kuenzel, providing the ability for individual attention to each student’s interest and skill level, while allowing experimentation with color, shape, texture and composition.
The studio space is located at 714 W. Hargett Street in a newly renovated historic home harmonizing modern architecture within a rehabilitated structure. The space’s natural light, high ceilings and lively/playful detailing helps with the creative process. This allows for an environment where self-expression can blossom and encourages artwork each student can be proud of and experience a sense of accomplishment.
