Raleigh’s BEST –Beautifying Emerging Spaces Together — is an interactive, community-driven initiative that serves to capture and showcase the vibrant, engaging facets within the capital city that intersect and ultimately connect us as one.

Focused on overlooked, vacant storefronts and spaces set in the heart of Raleigh, BEST spotlights these underutilized buildings, repurposing them into canvases for artistic expression and community interaction.

Our BEST Vision

One by one, transformed BEST spaces will serve as windows into the souls of the dwellers, thinkers, and artisans within our growing city.

Individual BEST installations strive to depict the core of what defines Raleigh as a community: a modern, southern city inspired by diversity, motivated by creativity, and driven by its achievements of the past and the endless possibilities of its future.

The T is for TOGETHER

Beyond the creative and aesthetic component, individual BEST installations are created with the deeper intention to forge connections among assorted community groups, non-profits, independent businesses, and artistic organizations that are operating based on common, shared motivations: the building of, contributing toward, and revitalization of community.

BEST is the true convergence of creative minds and talented artisans, willing property owners, interested city leaders, engaged independent retailers, community-based non-profits, and generous sponsors and volunteers that make this inviting, inclusive grass-roots minded initiative possible.

All thinkers, doers, artists (amateur, emerging, and established), and other active community groups and non-profits are invited to share in our vision. Together, we are beautifying emerging spaces.
